Colossus

Half-finished
The bare parts of the frame twist and stares down at me
It's empty ghost eyes looking straight through me
Burning
But no doubt or fear can stop this now.

The whirlwind in my mind
caused by the day all fell out from under me
Blew together the blueprints for this monument
A statue of Phobetor
Whose face, at times, resembled Arion or Paris
before setting in clear
Frozen behind my eyes

Although, in my heart I feel more inclined to honor Calypso or Biblys
Unfortunate ones
Cursed to love
And to die of grief

But what burns in my heart doesn't bleed from my pens
And the statue sits clearly in my mind.

It is finished!
Two years young
When it is tore down by an earthquake
Thrown backwards into the harbor
Forever drowning
Staring up at the endless sky
Endlessly

The ruins of something great
(or, maybe) the ruins that became something great.
